The Mountain range which elephants crosses

Long time ago, there was the army which crossed the Alps with the elephants. Or, I don't sure, with pushing battle ships.
The admiral name is Hannibal, the hero in Carthago, and his rival was Roma. This is all I know about him. It is very good situation, for traveling with reading the record-of-war of Hannibal seems very exciting.

I thought of such a thing when considering the future travel plan.
Investigating just for a moment, they landed at the southern shore in France and progressed inland , crossed the Alps, and went to Italy. It is attractive also as a course of a bicycle trip with beautiful mountains and the sea.

There are several opinions which pass they crossed. It is good situation for me, because I can say "this is the Hannibal's col" to the pass I cross. Since I am not a historian but a traveler, it is more important for me to make attract story rather than knowing an exact position. Crossing Alps by bicycle must be hard, but it was possible for elephant (or battle ship?). I think no problem by bicycle.
(Regrettably, Crossing Alps is elephants , not battle ship. I mixed up with the Turkey army in Constantinople.)

My vacation is 2weeks. It is possible to run 1000km by bicycle, for about 100km/day. Seeing map with this calculation, I notice that Europe is smaller than I thought. Usually We see a map of each country, so I thought Europe was larger.

I will go this course. A train may be used.

In this way, I decided 2weeks journey from Nice to Roma. In Japan, 2weeks vacation sounds very long. But Traveling by bicycle, 2weeks is not enough, even though it is not impossible.(I have no way if it rains for 5 days. but it can occur.)
In 2weeks, I have only 14 chances to see sun rise. I hope to see rising sun with blue horizon, white mountains, or old church... How many times can I see the view like that?

I have only limited time, So I must know what I really want to do. I may do skin diving, but I won't go museum or famous churches. I will bring my climbing boots but leave fishing rod. bring tripod, but leave water proof case for digital camera. I may stay at youth hostels, but basically camping.

Today is Two days before I start. For my daily life is going and coming back between the laboratory and the drafting room, I can not imagine that the tent life in the beautiful shore or silent mountain of a foreign country. Well, am I OK?
I must hurry up preparation, but it does not progress.
